FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS: Josh is a relatively laid back and very friendly guy.  He has never met a stranger and adores children.  He has been great around other dogs, and would do well in a house with a mature laid back canine companion.  He has had a great deal of uncertainty in his life, but you would not know it when you meet him.  He is a truly happy, loving, and affectionate guy.  Josh is very smart and catches on quickly, but he can also be a bit stubborn and requires patience and consistency. He has a moderate energy level and will happily nap for a couple of hours after short play sessions with people or other pups.   He adores short leash walks, car rides, and any activity that allows him to be around new people.

Josh is spunky, smart and very affectionate.  He loves to lay his head on his foster mom's lap and get his ears scratched.   He adores naps in his comfy bed, playing with his toys, and laying in front of the storm door watching the world go by. He has not had a single accident in the house and taught himself to use the doggy door. He absolutely adores having foster mom’s grandchildren around, who are four and six years old.

Everyone that meets Josh falls in love and he is sure to steal the heart of any potential forever family that meets him.  Could his forever home be with you?

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Josh spent his life as an outdoor dog prior to coming into foster care. He found himself abandoned twice in one year by two different families. A group of amazing and dedicated volunteers with the Coalition to Unchain Dogs had followed his journey since they built his fence and had him neutered at 9 months old. When he was abandoned in April, they began working to place him in a stable foster situation so that he could receive the care and training needed to eventually be adopted. Josh gained 25 pounds over the course of a year because his previous owner would leave him alone for days at a time and pour large amounts of dog food when he left. He is on a special diet now and his foster mom is working on the weight loss. His front paws have a condition that makes him appear flat footed. His movement will improve as he loses his excess weight. In spite of lack of human interaction and early house training, Josh is a love bug on every level and is making the most of being an indoor dog.
