FOSTER COMMENTS:   Meet Romeo and Juliet! This precious Maltese pair is learning what their new life has to offer. Romeo and Juliet are tightly bonded; therefore it is our hope that they will be adopted together by someone who has experience with small dogs. Both little ones are incredibly sweet and gentle. If one pup wants to cuddle, the second one is not far behind. Both dogs are happy and show it with doing the cutest circle dance. They thrive on praise and are learning with treats and positive training methods. They are quick learners, as they figured out in short order how to go in and out of the house through the doggy door.

Given their background as likely puppy mill dogs, both are struggling with understanding the concept of house training. They most likely spent their entire lives in small cages. They are making progress and will continue to get better with adopters that can take them out periodically during the day and would not punish them for mishaps.

Romeo and Juliette would do best in a home without small children, as sudden movements and loud noises scare them. Despite everything they have been through, neither dog has ever snapped or growled. They both did very well with the groomer.  They will need time to warm up in their new home, but will thrive with someone who will devote time to them. Romeo and Juliet love to follow their person around the house or yard. They will be perfect lap dogs for a retired couple or someone who is at home a lot.  Both dogs are currently eating a special diet as they each had multiple teeth removed during their dental cleaning.  We want their new family to invest in high quality food and help them continue to thrive.

Romeo and Juliet currently live on a small rescue farm where they interact with other dogs, chickens, ducks, peacocks and 2 pot-bellied pigs! They like to wear their sweaters outside in the cooler weather. Romeo and Julit are crate trained, but would prefer to snuggle on the couch and sleep at night in bed with their person.

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:   We believe Romeo and Juliet were previous puppy mill dogs, and believe they were discarded as they were not producing puppies. They were found starved and matted by a kind lady who financially wasn’t able to care for them. She turned to BFPA for help and these little ones were admitted to our foster network.
