FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS:  Zander was timid the first day we started to foster him but warmed up quickly.  He now loves to be around his humans and likes to be cuddled.  He seems to thrive on attention.

Zander does well with our dogs and loves to play.  He seems to enjoy the company of our dogs, but sometimes doesn't understand their cues when they don't want to play. But he is learning quickly and is giving them their space.  He definitely likes to play, but does calm down and chills out on the dog bed with our dogs.

Zander might do well as an only dog, but would do best with a lot of human attention.  He probably would be happiest with another dog or some doggie play dates if he was an only dog. .

Zander is living with cats. He hasn't been aggressive to them, but doesn't quite understand that the cats don't want to play with him.  He will learn!!

We have three children (ages 4, 7 and 9) and he's been fine with them.  I think he would be fine with all people.

We are working on house breaking and he is doing very well.  We are also crate training him.  He sleeps in the crate at night and does fine.  Zander has learned the word crate, and often enters without help.  Sometimes he needs a little push to go inside (particularly when he would rather be lying on the dog bed with our dogs) but he has never really resisted going inside.

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Zander has been bounced around a lot during his short life so far.  The moves were of no fault of Zander...just poor planning by humans.  Ultimately, some kind person saw him listed on Craigslist and took possession of him until a rescue group could be found.  BFPA was happy to admit this handsome guy! He is now ready for his forever home and is hoping you consider making him part of your family.

ADOPTING A YOUNG PUPPY FROM BFPA: Requires that you live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before final adoption. We prefer to adopt young puppies to people who have previous experience owning a dog and live in a single family house rather than an apartment, condo or townhome. Puppies can be vocal when left alone and shared walls are sometimes an issue.  Any children in the home under 6 years old must have experience living with a dog in their home.
