Original adopter decided to keep Bear.

I have spent a lot of time this weekend thinking this through. I have decided to remove Bandit from the BFPA website. We are working on his behavior issues and I am much more comfortable with having him in my home with my other dog.

I appreciate all you have done through this difficult time but I think his best future is in the home he knows.

Thank you,
Carolyn

FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS:

Bear is 5 1/2 year old corgi/shepherd mix who weighs 42lbs.  He is a sweet boy looking for his forever home.

Bear is sweet, friendly  boy who loves attention.  His whole body wags when he is excited to see somebody. In general, Bear does get along with other dogs. But he would be happiest in a home where he is the only dog. He would love all your attention!  Bear's ideal home would be with someone who was home most of the day.

Bear is both housebroken and leash trained.   He is crated when I leave the house and will do OK when left with a chew or peanut butter Kong.  He would much prefer to live with someone who works from home or is home a lot.

Bear has moderate energy. He loves a good walk and is happy to do his patrols in the backyard and to chase the bunnies that show up there.  At about 6 years old, Bear still has a fair amount of puppy energy.  That said, he loves to nap in a puddle of sunshine and will be a lap dog if you let him.  He never gets enough petting for his taste!  Bear enjoys time in the fenced in backyard both when I am working out there or on his own.  He needs at least a 4' fence.

Bear  enjoys a good walk and often settles right down after for the balance of the day – it is a high point for him.  He is truly one of the most handsome dogs I have ever seen.  When he looks at you with those eyes, you really feel like you are loved.  The shepherd in him has him patrolling the yard and keeping an eye out on those who pass by.   He is a smart dog who needs mental stimulation to help burn up some of that leftover puppy energy.  Bear is such a wonderful dog who is looking for his forever home.  Do you have a fenced yard and a lot of love for this handsome guy?

We do home visits to deliver the dog and also to finalize adoptions. Therefore, potential adopters need to live no further than an hour drive to the Triangle area (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) of North Carolina.  Also all our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for any medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  So applicant would need to travel to Raleigh for any vet care which may be needed.
