He is around 7-8 years old and weighs a whopping 10 lbs! He is sweet and loyal to his family and has never shown aggression. Ruby might be a bit tentative when meeting people but warms up and bonds quickly to his human. He is a lower energy dog, but likes daily walks. He loves car rides. He gets along well with other dogs and also cats. Ruby has lived with other dogs most of his life but probably would be fine being an only dog too. He hasn't been around really young children much and might do best with older children. Ruby is crate trained and totally housebroken. He is mostly quiet, but has a happy whine and will alert you if someone comes to door or yard. He knows all the basic commands such as sit, stay, come, etc. Ruby is a great champion and a smart little guy. He is a good lap dog too! He's adapted very well to his foster home and will adjust well in any environment. Older kids maybe better since he's coming into his senior years and would prefer a quieter home. EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Ruby had a rough start to life and lived outside tied to a tree for the first couple years, then was rescued by a woman that had him for the last 5 years (est to be about 7-8yo). Sadly, she is no longer able to care for Ruby. BFPA is now looking for Ruby's next home and hopefully his last home. He deserves only the best in life now! Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed. We do home visits to deliver the dog and also to finalize adoptions. Therefore, we prefer potential adopters live a reasonable distance to the Triangle area (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) of North Carolina. Also all our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for any medical care prior to adoptions being finalized. So applicant would need to travel to Raleigh for any vet care which may be needed.
