His past owner said he was fine with cats also. He has arthritis and needs to be petted gently so small children might not be the best fit for Oscar. Older kids that treat him gently would be fine. Oscar is quiet and only seems to bark when our other dogs bark. He is totally housebroken and can go 8 hours without being let outside. He doesn't need a lot of exercise but does like short 10-15 minute walks. Keeping him active is good for his arthritis too. Look at his video....he is spunky at times! Oscar could live with other dogs but also could be an only dog if a human was home a lot. He likes companionship. He is a very well mannered dog who knows his name and responds to "no". He is a perfect gentleman:-) If you are looking for a special dog, a senior dog that is well behaved, loves people, wants to cuddle and is happy and sweet....look no further! Oscar is the dog you have been looking for and he will bring joy to your life for the rest of his days. EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Oscar is a gentle soul in search of his next forever home. His owner had to make the hard decision to give up Oscar due to his own physical issues. Knowing he could no longer take proper care of Oscar, BFPA stepped up to help find this deserving dog a new home. Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed. We do home visits to deliver the dog and also to finalize adoptions. Therefore, we prefer potential adopters live a reasonable distance to the Triangle area (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) of North Carolina. Also all our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for any medical care prior to adoptions being finalized. So applicant would need to travel to Raleigh for any vet care which may be needed.
