FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS:  Flo can be timid at first but gradually warms up to people. She is cautious with new people. Flo needs to find a family that is willing to take is slowly with her so she can build trust with your and confidence in her new home.

She gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home.  She is not living with cats but we think she would do OK with them especially if introduced properly and while she is still  young.

Flo likes to play chase with dogs and especially likes to play tug of war!

We are working on house training and she is doing well.  She need to go outside often during the day so being in a home where someone is home a lot would be ideal. She does sleep though the night and likes sleeping with her human. Flo is also crate trained and does fine with it.  She may whine a bit at first but then settles down.

Flo knows how to "sit" and we are working with her on other commands.  She will do best in a home with  another dog to give her companionship and help her overcome her fears.  Since Flo startles easily when outside,  a fenced in yard will make her more secure.  She is not used to being on a leash yet so the safety of a fenced in yard is preferred.  Flo likes other dogs but isn't a candidate for a dog park.

She is such a great puppy and will make some lucky family an outstanding pet. She needs a family that is willing to go slowly with her and is aware of her timidness.  Flo needs time to trust you.  Would you like to make her part of your family?

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:  Flo and her sister Virginia were found soaking wet and huddled together along a road after Hurricane Florence devastated parts of NC.  A kind person who knew about BFPA stopped and picked up the puppies and brought them to Raleigh.  She then contacted us to see if we could help these hurricane victims find a forever home.  We were more than happy to help them. They don't have to worry about being soaking wet and alone outside any more!

ADOPTING A YOUNG PUPPY FROM BFPA: Requires that you live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before final adoption. We prefer to adopt young puppies to people who have previous experience owning a dog and live in a single family house rather than an apartment, condo or townhome. Puppies can be vocal when left alone and shared walls are sometimes an issue.  Any children in the home under 6 years old must have experience living with a dog in their home.

PLEASE NOTE:  Flo  has only had one set of vaccines so if a trial adoption begins before the second set of vaccines, the potential adopters will have to keep her in their home and yard to minimize the risk of exposure to germs.   Interaction with unknown dogs at pet stores, doggie day care, dog parks and any public areas where other dogs may frequent should be avoided during this period.
