Websites such as Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet may not show all the information that we have listed. Washington was born 2/23/2019 and is now in a loving foster home and ready to begin his search for his forever home. He is very friendly with humans and dogs. He will run up to any new person and wants to be picked up and played with. He loves dogs and wants to play with them. He has not met a cat yet. He is a typical puppy and will still play nip occasionally so any interaction with children needs to be closely monitored. Washington is a fairly quiet dog. He sleeps quietly in his crate for 3-4 hours at a time without making a sound. He will let you know when he wants to go out. He is working very hard on his housebreaking. Puppies at this age need to be taken out frequently to do their business. Washington has a moderate energy level. He loves to run around, play with and chase the resident dog. He loves to wrestle and run around with the other dog. He's also getting very good at playing ball. He loves his time outside in the yard, running and playing, so a fenced in yard would be a nice to have feature. Lots of daily walks and activity would be important to keep him happy. He will need proper leash training. Washington is crate trained and does well in his crate. His foster parents use it daily. He loves to have something to chew on to keep him occupied in there. He sleeps in a crate in his foster's bedroom. He could be an only dog with a lot of human attention since he loves to be held and cuddled. He would also be a great fur sibling; he seems to want to be with humans as much as with dogs. Washington loves to give kisses, to be held, sit in your lap and be snuggly. He loves to run around in the yard and will happily spend an hour or two in the yard just exploring. He loves to play ball and play with any dog who will play with him. He loves to chew, chew, chew. Provide him with lots of chew toys and chews to keep him entertained and you will have a happy dog. Labs are the most loveable and loyal dogs; they will become an integral part of your family.
He is a typical puppy who is happy, healthy and playful. Puppies this young take a lot of attention, so anyone looking for a puppy should be realistic in the work puppies take initially. An adopter needs to be able to take them outside frequently so they can be housebroken. Washington's momma is around 45 lbs and his Dad is unknown.
He has had two rounds of vaccinations and will require one more as well as neuter around the age of 4 months, this is all covered by the adoption fee. Please see specific requirements for puppy adoption below. Don't you want a cuddly puppy in your family!
ADOPTING A YOUNG PUPPY FROM BFPA: Requires that you live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before final adoption. We prefer to adopt young puppies to people who have previous experience owning a dog and live in a single family house rather than an apartment, condo or townhome. Puppies can be vocal when left alone and shared walls are sometimes an issue. Any children in the home under 6 years old must have experience living with a dog in their home.
