Lafayette is a sweet puppy who was born on 2/23/2029 and is now in a foster home searching for his furever home. He is a friendly puppy who is eager and loves to meet new people and dogs. He gets along well with the resident dog at his foster home. They play together daily. He also does well with the resident cat. He has not had the pleasure of meeting kids younger than 16 at this point. Lafayette is a fairly quiet dog. He may bark for attention occasionally but is otherwise "not overly barky". He is working very hard on his housebreaking. He is getting better each day. At this young age puppies need to be taken outside frequently to do their business. He is used to his foster home's fenced in yard and enjoys it so one of those would be a nice to have feature for him. Lafayette has a moderate energy level. He enjoys nice long walks and is getting used to his leash. He is making great strides at leash training daily. He can be energetic after eating and gets excited when meeting new people. He can also be very calm and snuggly. He would make a great only dog but would also be a really great fur sibling. Lafayette is used to his crate although the door is never closed. He has access to his crate at all times; he keeps toys in it plus he hangs out and sleeps in his crate. At night he sleeps in a room with his crate and will sleep anywhere in this room but mostly chooses to sleep on the floor. He is working hard on his basic commands; so far he knows sit and come. Lafayette loves to play with the resident dog and his foster family. He likes to play with his toys, especially stuffed animals, and loves to chew. He loves attention, being rubbed and tug games. He is a beautiful dog with a great disposition. He is very friendly and super cute. Lafayette is a smart puppy and a quick learner. He sleeps quietly from 10pm to 6am every night in a room by himself without whining.
He is a typical puppy who is happy, playful and exploring the world. Puppies this young take a lot of dedication , so anyone looking at Lafayette should be realistic in the work puppies take initially. An adopter needs to be able to take them outside frequently so they can be housebroken. Lafayette's momma is around 45 lbs and his Dad is unknown. Want a cuddly black lab in your family? EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Lafayette was one of 7 puppies born to Lizzy. Lizzy was pulled from a rural shelter only days before her puppies were born. Lizzy is shown in the photo above with her puppies. We do know know anything about the father of the pups. ADOPTING A YOUNG PUPPY FROM BFPA: Requires that you live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before final adoption. We prefer to adopt young puppies to people who have previous experience owning a dog and live in a single family house rather than an apartment, condo or townhome. Puppies can be vocal when left alone and shared walls are sometimes an issue. Any children in the home under 6 years old must have experience living with a dog in their home.
