FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS: Kelsey is a sweet 3 year old hound girl, who was the best mom to her 7 puppies. She is now ready to start living her own best life. She can be a little shy at first but once you start scratching behind her ears she becomes your new best friend. She gets along very well with the resident dog in her foster home; her foster mom reports that the transition into her new foster home was very easy. She learned to fit in very quickly. She does incredibly well around the resident cats. She barely knows they exist. She does not chase them and they are completely fine with her around. She has not been around younger children but she does really well with the older kids of the household.

Kelsey is a quiet dog unless she sees someone walking in the foster's cul de sac. Her fosters will tell her that it's ok and she'll settle down. She is completely housebroken. She does a great job letting her foster know when she needs to go out. She has come such a long way! Kelsey has been left for up to 6 hours without accidents. She does well as long as she is given a good opportunity to go to the bathroom before you leave.

Kelsey is a good mix of energy. She enjoys playtime and would be willing to go on a walk or go outside with you as much as you'd like. She has never turned down an opportunity to be outside with her fosters. She can be playful when she has a play mate but is very relaxed and calm when she is on her own. She's very playful and cute in the morning after a good night's rest. Her foster thinks Kelsey would really enjoy a fenced in yard of her own but she has not had one at her foster home. She is taken out for walks for a block or two several times a day to do her business and then a longer walk to get her out to enjoy the fresh air. She likes being outside so if a fenced yard was available she would likely really enjoy spending a lot of time outside.

Kelsey is learning to like her crate. She has been crated a few times; while she doesn't love it, she doesn't bark when put in the crate and will relax and be fine within a couple of minutes. She sleeps on a dog bed on the floor in one of the bedrooms. Her foster mom thinks she could be happy as an only dog; she interacts very well with her people. She will nudge her nose to yours as a sign that she is ready to have her face rubbed.

Kelsey does well on a leash. She loves going for walks and a leash is no issue for her. She could be an apartment dog. She likes to have a quiet place to rest so she she would do best if she had a quiet room she could go to. She is working hard on her basic commands. She likes treats and will make progress quickly.

Kelsey LOVES to have her ears and face scratched; she'll stand there forever letting you love on her. Many times she has been found snuggled up in a closet having a nap. She loves being talked to and having someone pay attention....she soaks it right up. She is one of the sweetest dogs. With some love and training she is going to be the perfect dog for her future family.

Kelsey was scared, confused and very sick when she was first arrived at her foster's house. She responded very quickly to being pet, cleaned up and snuggled with. She wants her people to interact with her and show her affection. Her foster mom thinks her home was probably the first time she lived indoors and she has learned a lot of indoor manners in her short time with them; all while she was raising her puppies. Now that her job as mama is coming to an end she deserves the best life.  She is incredibly loyal and loving. Some basic dog classes would be good for her in order to better understand commands. She is a good girl who will thrive in her forever home with people that love her.

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:  Kelsey was found wandering and got turned into a small rural shelter that was full. Her time was almost up when BFPA was alerted to her situation.  We pulled her just in time and discovered that she was pregnant!  She was very emaciated and not in good shape.  After a very difficult pregnancy and delivery (ultimately a C-section), 8 cute as a button puppies were born.  Kelsey has finished her mothering duties and now wants a fresh start on her life.  She is looking for her furever home where she can be loved and pampered!  Yours??
