FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS: Fiona is a very friendly and happy 6 year old Corgi/Shepherd mix girl. She's the perfect medium size dog at 34 pounds. She greets you at the door with her tail and whole body wagging enthusiastically.  She has not been around dogs at her current foster home. She can be dog tested before being adopted. She may do best in a home without cats since she likes to bark at them. She also has not had the pleasure to be around kids yet at her current foster home. She did fine around people and kids of all ages at the park from a distance and observed without any reactions.

Fiona likes to let her people know when she hears certain noises like other dogs barking, thunder and fireworks. She is improving on her reactions to these noises and is getting used to normal noises within the home. Fiona is completely housebroken. So far she has been left up to 5 hours without any accidents. She has a moderate energy level. She likes to go for walks and would probably even enjoy being someone's running buddy. She will chase a ball or toy if tossed. She also enjoys her relaxing time very much.

Fiona would very much enjoy a fenced in yard but it's not a must-have. She will chase after little wild critters and enjoys that little running time but besides that will not bolt. She wants to always be with her people and does not even really want to be outside in the yard for long without knowing that one of her fosters is nearby. She would be perfectly happy being with her people on a leash if a fenced in yard is not available.

Fiona is crate trained and is fed in her crate but likes to spend her time outside of the crate. She sleeps on a dog bed on the floor in her foster's bedroom. She walks well on a leash. She listens well to "leave it" and will resume walking well if you have her look at you if she gets excited. She has been an only dog in her foster home and is doing very well. This might even be best for her as long as her people are with her and engage her. She may do best in a townhouse or single family home, not an apartment.

Fiona wants to do anything you want to do. She just wants to be with you at all times. She is playful and will often get her toy and bring it to you to play tug with her or will happily play by herself if you are simply in the room with her. She loves to go for walks and car rides. She is smart and very eager to learn and eager to please you. She knows her basic commands and is ready to learn even more.

Fiona is a sweet, loving little dog with an eager personality. She wants to be your constant companion  and would be a very loyal one. She is a great combination of youthful enthusiasm and curiosity but is also happy to snuggle up next to you on the sofa and nap. She is an unusual blend of corgi and shepherd with the adorable little corgi legs and the fur and face of a shepherd. She is very smart and would be a great match for someone who is interested in training her beyond basics. She is so attentive and eager to please that she would love to learn anything to make you happy.

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: We don't know very much about Fiona's story. BFPA took her in from Wake County Animal Shelter and promised her to find her the best forever home. She went through heartworm treatment and came out on the other side stronger and healthier than ever before. She's now ready for a happy and healthy life.
