FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS:  Dax is a super sweet hound mix boy (perhaps a Treeing Walker Coonhound) who is estimated to be between 1-2 years old. He is gentle, friendly and calm.

We believe he spend much of his prior life outside so he is learning about the indoor world and being part of a family.  He’s not your typical hound, he's the tall, handsome, quiet type rarely barking but he will send an alert when he senses a potential danger to his family or when we're a slow getting his breakfast ready.

He is working hard on being housebroken; making great strides. Dax does well in the crate in night but loves nothing more than spending his days outside! Dax is a lower energy dog but he does loves to run around, walk or play with other dogs so a fenced in backyard would be a must! He is very curious and likes to explore.

He walks super on his leash and loves to go for walks. He would do great with another dog in the house; yet he would be ok being an only dog as well with lots of attention, play dates with other dogs and lots of physical exercise. He has no interest in cats so no worries there.  He is working on his basic commands; so far, he has learned sit and shake!  

His foster mom says he is gentle, affectionate, clever, even tempered and a clown. Dax will benefit from a patient and willing hand that will help him continue to learn so he can gain confidence and comfort within his new surroundings.

He is looking for a forever home....yours??

Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.

Fee is $225 for dogs, $115 for cats.
