FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS:  Ruby is a gorgeous, medium sized 2 year old girl. She is very friendly with everyone. She gets along well with other dogs. So far she has not been around cats during her stay with us. She is amazing with kids; she has a very calm disposition, she will sleep nearby as they play and will cuddle with them when they are quiet.

Ruby is a very quiet girl with a very calm temperament and lower activity level. She is completely housebroken and does not have accidents. She has been left for up to 8 hours without having to go outside without any problems. She would love to have a fenced in yard of her own but this is not a requirement for her. Ruby does not need to be crated; she is the most perfectly behaved girl. At night she sleeps on her dog bed in her foster mom's bedroom.

Ruby does well on a leash; she does not pull but likes to cross over. She would make the perfect companion as either an only dog or with another dog around as well. She would be very appropriate for apartment living due to her quiet and calm nature. She is working on more basic commands; so far she knows sit and come.

Ruby loves to sleep, cuddle, go for walks and watch neighbor's dogs. She is a very low maintenance and cuddly dog. She loves everyone and gets along very well with other dogs. When she passes barking dogs while out on a walk she completely ignores them. She is very easy-going. When she wants your attention she will bump you with her nose. When she is ready to come inside she waits patiently by the door until her foster mom sees her.

Ruby is looking for her forever family to lounge and cuddle. Could it be you?

NOTE: Like so many stray dogs, Ruby is heart worm positive so will be going through heart worm treatment.  This is a very common treatment and Ruby should make a full recovery.  She will need to be quite during her recovery time so she can start an adoption trial before her treatment begins or after the quiet time.  BFPA will pay for this treatment and her adoption won't be finalized until she is medically cleared by a vet.

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Ruby was a stray at a rural shelter and very much at risk because the shelter was full.  This girl is so sweet, calm and friendly that BFPA stepped in and admitted her to our rescue.  She will make an awesome addition to someones home.

Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.
