FOSTER FAILURE 

Meet Manny a sweet and friendly puppy.  He is very playful and enjoys following our dog around and hasn’t shown much interest in our cat.  He has been around children andit went well and he seemed comfortable.  Manny likes to be with people and will vocalizes when you leave him alone.

He is learning lots of new skills.  He is housetraining and picking it up quickly. He knows he needs to pee outside but still has accidents sometimes when he’s excited. He can go 2-3 hours during the day between potty breaks.  He is very smart and has learned to use our dog door and goes outside often on his own.   Manny sleeps in his crate at night as long as one of us is in the room.  He is not a big fan of the crate, but we are still working on it. We have not started leash training yet.

Manny has a moderate energy level.  He likes the fenced yard a lot, but would probably be okay without it. His favorite things to do are, playing with our dog, chewing on toys (lots of stuffed animals!), sniffing around the backyard and being around people. He could be an only dog but he would be much happier with a friend.  He would do best in a single family home as he likes to explore.

If you want a very sweet puppy that loves being around people.  He will make a great companion for you.

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:  Mayes was found on the side of a rural road along with his siblings.  They were probably dumped there to fend for themselves. ADOPTING A YOUNG PUPPY FROM BFPA: Requires that you live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before final adoption. We prefer to adopt young puppies to people who have previous experience owning a dog and live in a single family house rather than an apartment, condo or townhome. Puppies can be vocal when left alone and shared walls are sometimes an issue.  Any children in the home under 6 years old must have experience living with a dog in their home.

PLEASE NOTE:  Mayes has only had one set of vaccines so if a trial adoption begins before the second set of vaccines, the potential adopters will have to keep him in their home and yard to minimize the risk of exposure to germs.   Interaction with unknown dogs at pet stores, doggie day care, dog parks, apartment common grounds and any public areas where other dogs may frequent should be avoided during this time.

Therefore, we prefer potential adopters live a reasonable distance to the Triangle area (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) of North Carolina.  All animals will be up to date on all  vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro chipped before the adoption  is finalized. Fee is $225 for dogs, $115 for cats.
