FOSTER COMMENTS:

Izzy came to Best Friend from a home where she was abused by another dog in the house.  Through no fault of her own, she was attacked by that dog.  As a result, she is fearful of other dogs and needs to go to a home where she is the only dog.  She deserves a home where she feels safe and is loved!

Izzy is very affectionate and loves the older children in her foster home who are 20 and 22, they love her as well too.  Izzy is very friendly with people.  When she meets someone for the first time, she is so excited to be meeting someone new, she tends to jump up and put her front paws on them.  When she relaxes and people tell her "no", she stops.  She is fine with dog savvy cats, but when she sees one outside, she tries to chase it.

Izzy is fairly quiet in the house and is happy to lay on her bed.  She is so happy to greet us when we come back home. Although she doesn't bark in the house, she tends to whine when she sees one of us in another room and she can't get to us.  However, when she sees squirrels outside from our screened porch, or other dogs on a walk, she barks very loudly.

Izzy is housebroken but needs regular potty breaks.  At night she goes 8 hours between potty breaks and during the day we tend to take her out 4 times a day--around 6:30 a.m., noon, 5, and 10:00 p.m.

Izzy is not a good walking dog, so we tend to keep walks short.  She is strong and pulls on walks when she sees a squirrel, dog, cat, etc.  She wears a harness which helps.  Izzy needs a home with a fenced in yard.  Her fear of other dogs is such that she is always on "red alert" when we take her out on a walk. Allowing her to go out in a fenced yard would be best for her to feel secure.

Izzy likes her crate!  We crate her in the kitchen at night to sleep.  We put her bed in the crate when we go to bed, but we leave the crate door open.  She is always in the crate when I come downstairs in the morning and ready to start her day.  She does not need to be confined to her crate as she doesn't chew on things and has good house manners.

Izzy is extremely affectionate and loves people.  She will come to us to be petted and will put her head in our lap!  She can be silly and enjoys playing  with us by chasing us around our kitchen island.  She is super smart and knows the commands, sit, stay and  come.  She loves to ride in the car and to chew on her antler.  She is sweet girl who would make a great companion to someone who will give her a chance to show what a great dog she is.  Are you the Izzy forever family?

Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.
