Royce is a very friendly puppy and loves dogs of all sizes. He regularly tries to get his 75lb, 14 year old, Great Pyrenees mix, foster brother to play with him! We have not seen him around children or cats yet. He is very social and does not like being in places where he cannot see what is going on. He lets us know that he is not happy about this by making grunting sounds and does whimper some--it's pretty adorable. We are crate training. He is okay being in his crate as long as he can see us. When we leave the house, he seems to accept that and settles right in. When he knows we are in the house, he won't settle unless he is near us in the crate. We are working on potty training, but he is very young and is learning! At night he sleeps in his crate in our bedroom, he is in it for 6-8 hours and has not had any accidents. If he has to pee or poop and he is in his crate, he will let you know! Royce is a typical puppy with a moderate energy level. A fence yard is a nice feature but not necessary for Royce. We play with him in the front yard and he likes to stay close by. Royce could live in a condo, townhome or apartment. He does like to play and run around, so keep that in mind with neighbors. Royce could be an only dog, but he loves to play, so I think he would enjoy a playmate! He is still a baby and may be struggling with separation so patience is a must! If he gets enough play time, that wears him out and he is a much happier puppy. Royce's favorite things are playing with toys, chasing balls, rolling around in the grass, being around people, and napping! He is a sweet, loving, playful pup. He is awesome with other dogs! He has great energy! Could Royce be the newest member of your family? EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Royce is part of a litter that BFPA rescued from a rural county in eastern North Carolina. They were all living outside in a less than ideal situation. BFPA was happy to admit them and Royce is looking for his forever home now. ADOPTING A YOUNG PUPPY FROM BFPA: Requires that you live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before final adoption. We prefer to adopt young puppies to people who have previous experience owning a dog and live in a single family house rather than an apartment, condo or townhome. Puppies can be vocal when left alone and shared walls are sometimes an issue. Any children in the home under 6 years old must have experience living with a dog in their home.
