You MUST submit an application at BFPA.org if you are interested in Mala ! Mala is very friendly and she loves to play with other dogs. We are not sure how she would do with cats, our cat avoids her. She is around our children ages 5-17 and does well with them. As many puppies do, she likes to nip at ankles and pant legs with those new teeth. We are working on housetraining and crate training and she is doing very well. During the day we take her out every 1-2 hours. She will volunteer to sleep in the crate which we keep in her pen. She can sleep through the night from 9pm-6am without an accident or crying. We have her crate/pen set up in our sunroom. Mala has high (puppy) energy and can be vocal at times with excitement but not overly so. Her favorite things to do are to wrestle with our dog, chew on sticks, chase running children and sit for treats! A fenced yard is a nice to have but not necessary. If you do not have a fenced yard when she can run and play, she will need to be walked often since she has a lot of energy. Mala loves to play with our dog but we think she would be fine as an only dog too if given an outlet for her energy. An experienced dog owner would be best and one who is willing to attend a formal training class with her when adopted. If you are looking for a pup who is very confident, active, playful, curious and fun, Mala may be a great fit for your family. EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Mala was found alone by a dumpster in a rural area . She was taken to a shelter that alerted rescue groups. BFPA quickly admitted her to our rescue and she is now in the loving home of a foster. She is ready for her forever home! ADOPTING A YOUNG PUPPY FROM BFPA: Requires that you live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before final adoption. We prefer to adopt young puppies to people who have previous experience owning a dog and live in a single family house rather than an apartment, condo or townhome. Puppies can be vocal when left alone and shared walls are sometimes an issue. Any children in the home under 6 years old must have experience living with a dog in their home. NOTE: Mala has only had one set of vaccines so if a trial adoption begins before the second set of vaccines, the potential adopters will have to keep her in their home and yard to minimize the risk of exposure to germs. She cannot live in an apartment until after she receives her second set of vaccines around July 9th. Interaction with unknown dogs at pet stores, doggie day care, dog parks, apartment common grounds and any public areas must be avoided during this time. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING MALA?
