FOSTER COMMENTS:

Zander is a very sweet and friendly puppy.  He hasn’t been around very many people or other dogs yet because he needs to have more vaccines.  It is recommended to limit a puppy's exposure until they are protected with all their vaccines.

Zander is interested in cats and lives with cats in his foster home.  He would do fine with dog savvy cats.  He likes to vocalize when he is excited or wants to play with the cats.  He likes children and is trying to figure out how to play with them. He is learning lots of new skills as he navigates his new foster home.  He is very trainable.  He picks up on new things when we teach him. He is pretty good with sit and come commands.

Zander is working on his housetraining.  He is not completely housetrained but he has had several days without an “accident” in the house.  He is super smart and we are going in the right direction!  He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate overnight.   He sleeps through the night! Sometimes he whines a little when you put him in the crate during the day to  run an errand or go to work. He has never had an accident in his crate.

Zander is a puppy so he has a high energy level.  A fenced yard in his forever home is not necessary but a "nice to have" feature.  He likes to run around sometimes, other times he just wants to hang out in the shade or in the house. Regular walks and play time would be necessary to let him burn off that energy.  He does fairly well on the leash and is getting better every day.

One of Zanders favorite things  to do are play fetch. Though he’s not super great at bringing the toy back every time!  He also loves to sit on your lap and snuggle.  He is happy to hang out with his people when he isn’t playing so a furry sibling is not necessary.

Zander is a sweet puppy who is very smart and has a lot of love in his heart. He is a great dog and will make a wonderful addition to almost any family. Are you Zanders forever family?

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Zander was found with two siblings wandering around a rural road. They were probably dumped off by some human:-(. A BFPA volunteer was notified about them and BFPA agreed to find them forever homes.  They are now with loving fosters and their wandering days are behind them!

ADOPTING A YOUNG PUPPY FROM BFPA: Requires that you live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before final adoption. We prefer to adopt young puppies to people who have previous experience owning a dog and live in a single family house rather than an apartment, condo or townhome. Puppies can be vocal when left alone and shared walls are sometimes an issue.  Any children in the home under 6 years old must have experience living with a dog in their home.  NOTE:  Zander   has only had one set of vaccines so if a trial adoption begins before the second set of vaccines, the potential adopters will have to keep him in their home and yard to minimize the risk of exposure to germs.  He cannot live in an apartment until after he receives his second set of vaccines at the end of July.  Interaction with unknown dogs at pet stores, doggie day care, dog parks, apartment common grounds and any public areas must be avoided during this time.
