Jake needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
If you are interested in meeting Jake, you must submit an application and be approved. Don't hesitate since we expect that Jake will be a popular dog. Jake is a fantastic 2yo German Shepard mix dog who is extremely loving and very gentle. He has not destroyed anything in the house as he loves his toys very much. He loves to lay by your feet and lean up against his person. He will bark when someone comes into the house because he's protective. Once you tell him to stop, he's all done and is good to go. Once everyone is settled in, he's happy laying by his person. He is a great size at 41 lbs. Jake is 99% housebroken. We are working on him ringing a bell when he needs to go out. He's on a regular schedule and it works great. We have not been out of the house for more than 4 hours and he did well. He doesn't care for the crate during the day and his house manners are good so we don't crate him during the day. At night he walks into the crate on his own, sleeps thru the night and has never soiled in his crate. We keep his crate in the master bedroom with us. He loves to be by his person. Jake is low energy in the house, high- energy when it's time to play outside. His outdoor energy would need a fenced-in yard. He loves to run around and his favorite activity is playing fetch. We are leash walking Jake and he walks on the leash extremely well. He is still getting used to noises such as construction trucks. Jake is very smart. He knows to come and is learning sit and stay. He also understands 'no' without yelling it. For example, a simple no regarding food on the table and he won't go near it even if it's at snout level. Jake is shy at first, but then warms up to people. He gets along well with other dogs, but he has not met a cat yet. He has met children and just stands back and watches them. Jake loves to lay by your feet and play fetch. He loves his humans so being an only dog would be just fine. Jake is currently going through heartworm treatment and is doing just great. He will be neutered before any adoption is finalized. Jake is extremely loyal and protective. Such a gentle soul. Would Jake be a great addition to your family?
