FOSTER COMMENTS:

Darla is a 2 year old, 46 pound Terrier / Boxer mix.

Darla is extremely friendly, she is always happy to meet new people and one of her favorite activities is people watching.

Darla is a bit too excited while playing with other dogs and doesn't know all of their social cues but she is learning slowly. She has gotten to the point where she can now play with patient dogs under supervision as long as she has been on a walk or run ahead of time to get some of her excess energy out.

Darla never barks at all, if she needs something she will sit and wait quietly for you to notice. If she gets scared or nervous she will sometimes whine but other than that she is so silent you could forget she was in the room. Darla could definitely live in an apartment as long as she gets plenty of walks to get her energy out, the neighbors will never hear her.

Darla is happiest when someone is around however she is completely crate trained now and is ok with being in the crate while someone is away. The longest she has been left alone was 6 hours a few times, but there were never any issues and she was napping most of the time (had a camera set up to make sure she was ok). I believe that at this point darla would be able to be with someone who worked a normal schedule.

Darla is extremely cuddly and loves everyone. Darla is perfect for anyone who has lots of guests or someone who relaxes most of the day. Other than the first few minutes after meeting a new person, Darla is one of the most relaxed and lazy dogs you'll ever meet with her perfect day being nestled up next to her person or people.

The ideal home for darla would be a home with a nice yard or fenced in porch so that she can lie outside and bask in the sunlight.

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:   Darla was found as a stray in a rural county.  BFPA was happy to bring her into their foster program to help this sweet girl find her forever home.

Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.
