Frannie is a 4 year old, female beagle who is 21 pounds.
Frannie is very friendly! At first she was very quiet but as she settled she came out of her shell pretty quickly. I do not have any other dogs so I have not seen Frannie interact one on one. When we are out walking she barks at other dogs, she has not wanted to get any closer than on the other side of the road as we pass. She was very quiet at first but now that she is starting to feel comfortable she shares her beagle voice!
I have two cats, Frannie mostly ignores them, but she does get jealous when they get in my lap, and she tries to get between me and them to get the attention herself. I need to feed the cats in a separate area as Frannie will try to get the cat food. She also has attempted to get in the litter boxes to eat the poop. This has gotten better as she has realized she’ll get food regularly, but she would probably do best with no cats in the house. I have not seen her interact with children yet.
Frannie is housebroken. You must take her out regularly as she doesn't give any signal that she needs to go outside. During the day she can go 5-6 hours between potty breaks and overnight she goes about 7 hours. Frannie will sleep in the crate next to my bed, and has been in the crate during the day when I am gone for about 2 hours. When I get home, she wants out so she can be with me.
Frannie's activity level is moderate. She likes to walk twice a day or go out in the yard. She doesn’t like cold/rainy weather! It is necessary that she have a fenced yard in her forever home so she can enjoy time in the yard. We are working on leash walking. We go out on short walks, with a harness and leash, she gets skittish outside and is strong willed on the leash. We continue to work on these behaviors.
Frannie loves to eat, get treats, snuggle on the couch and roll around on the bed. She would probably love to be the only animal in her forever home so she gets all the attention! Frannie is sweet, loves to snuggle on the couch, has her own opinions and can’t be rushed. She needs a family with patience, time to give her attention and lots of love. Are you the right family for Frannie?
EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: FRANNIE was surrendered by her owner, who had cancer and could no longer care for her and the 16 dogs she lived with. These dogs were living outside however they were socialized well with people. Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.
