FOSTER COMMENTS: 

Baxter is a male Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier puppy.  He is 3 months old, currently weighs 10 pounds and will be about 25 pounds when full grown.  Baxter is very friendly and likes to play.  We have teenage children that he loves.  We have a cat that Baxter would play with but the cat is not interested.  We have two dogs that Baxter plays with and gets out all his puppy energy.

Baxter is a puppy and working on housetraining, he has occasional accidents but is getting better every day.  He is crate trained, and at night he sleeps in his crate from 9:30pm to 6am without accidents.  Baxter cannot go on walks yet since he is not fully vaccinated, so he has not had practice walking on a leash. 

Baxter loves to play and is so cute when he "talks" to tell you he wants to play.  He could do well as an only dog with plenty of exercise/walks.  Another dog sibling playing with him to get out his energy, ideally in a fenced yard, would be fabulous. 

Baxter is very smart.  He learns quickly, especially from other dogs.  Baxter knows the command “grass” pretty well to do his business.  He knows to sit before he can have his treat.

Baxter loves people and likes to be in the same room with them. He also likes to hide under furniture. He loves to explore and is very fast.  He is a great cuddler, very sweet, and playful!  He will be a great companion for his forever family.

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Baxter was surrendered at a small, rural shelter.  Best Friend Pet Adoption was so happy to admit him into our rescue and are looking for his forever home now.

Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.
