Please read special requirements below about adopting a young puppy. Finley is an 8 weeks old, 10 pound, Labrador Retriever mix puppy. Finley is a typical puppy full of energy, curiosity and has lots of love to share. He is looking for his best friend! He will be a wonderful member in his forever family. Finley is incredibly friendly, both to people and other dogs. He is very excited to meet new dogs! He shows interest in our cats, but doesn’t show any aggression to them. We have not seen Finley around children, but given his love for people, I think he would be happy around anyone at any age. Finley can be a little vocal when he wants attention, but he is happy to play quietly with a toy too. For a puppy, I would say he has moderate energy. He loves to run around the house, but he likes to snuggle up for a good nap. He loves running around our fenced in yard, is incredibly curious and loves to sniff everything. Finley is still very young, so he hasn’t had much potty training, leash walking or crate training. He currently is in a pen with his brother, George, not a crate. He does okay when it’s time for him to go in the pen. At night he sleeps in his pen, and will sleep through the night. Finley loves to play and give puppy kisses. He could be an only dog in his forever home if his humans are ready to play with him. PUPPIES REQUIRE A LOT OF TIME, EFFORT AND PATIENCE. THEY MUST BE TAKEN OUTSIDE FREQUENTLY WHILE THEY ARE BEING HOUSEBROKEN. ANY ADOPTER MUST BE ABLE TO PROVIDE FREQUENT POTTY BREAKS DURING THE DAY. EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:
BFPA took in Finley, his brother and mother after their owner ended up in the hospital and they were surrendered to a shelter.

ADOPTING A YOUNG PUPPY FROM BFPA: Requires that you live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before final adoption. We prefer to adopt young puppies to people who have previous experience owning a dog and live in a single family house rather than an apartment, condo or townhome. Puppies can be vocal when left alone and shared walls are sometimes an issue. Any children in the home under 6 years old must have experience living with a dog in their home. NOTE: Finley has only had one set of vaccines so if a trial adoption begins before the second set of vaccines, the potential adopters will have to keep him in their home and yard to minimize the risk of exposure to germs. Interaction with unknown dogs at pet stores, doggie day care, dog parks, apartment common grounds and any public areas must be avoided during this time. He cannot live in any multi-family building without his OWN yard until after he receives his second set of vaccines the end of April. If you do not have your own yard, your application cannot be processed until the end of April. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING FINLEY?
