FOSTER COMMENTS: Dallas is a 1 year old German Shepherd/Hound puppy mix who weighs about 30 pounds. He is loving and fun to be around.
Dallas is a slightly timid dog who wants to engage with people. He can be shy at first, but will graciously accept pets--especially belly rubs-- from his people. Dallas gets along well with all dogs he has met. He likes to play chase and run around with them in the yard. We do not have a cat but Dallas's previous foster had cats and he did fine with them. Dallas has not been around small children. Because he can be a little shy, he should be with older, more predictable children.
Dallas is housebroken and has had no accidents in the house! He will kick the back door or make a whine sound to let us know he needs to go out. He can go at least 8 hours between potty breaks, if necessary. He is crated when we are gone from the house and at night.
Dallas is crate trained and absolutely LOVES his crate. It is his safe space. The door to his crate is left open during the day and he generally chooses to be in there.
Dallas has a moderate activity level. He likes to take walks and run around the yard. After each, he usually comes in and goes right to sleep. A fenced in yard is an extremely nice feature for Dallas and applicants who have fenced yards will be preferred. Dallas is a very quiet dog.
Dallas favorite things to do are: play with all his toys, run around in the yard, romp with his various dog friends, and nap. He is a fierce insect hunter and tries to catch them as they fly through the air. He likes to chew on things-he loves his toys, but will take any shoe he can get his mouth on (remember he is still a puppy)!
Dallas is smart and motivated by food and toys. He has learned sit and crate. He knows what we mean when we say "come", but sometimes he gets nervous and chooses to stay where he is. Because Dallas is more on the shy side, another dog appears to help him feel more confident. So we are looking for an adopter who has another dog and a fenced yard.
Dallas is very sweet and it is so fun to watch him play. When he is on walks and running around in the yard, he seems like the happiest dog on the planet! Could he come and run around your yard!?
EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Dallas and his sister were surrendered to a rural shelter. They were not socialized and were leery of people. BFPA stepped up and took in the pups to help them find their forever home. Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed. Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized. Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions. We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.
