FOSTER COMMENTS: 

Rico is a lovebug of a Chihuahua mix who  is 10 pounds.  He is 1 year old, full grown and cute as a button.

Rico loves other dogs and is very friendly to humans.  He can be timid at times and may need time to warm up to the situation.   He has not been around children or cats yet.   

Rico is working on housetraining and coming along well!  He is vocal to let us know when he needs to go out.  He loves walks on his leash and he is a good walker.  A fenced yard would be great to have for Rico.  Like most young dogs he has energy that he can work out while exploring the yard and hiding behind the bushes. 

Rico is a quiet dog but will vocalize when he wants your attention.  His favorite things to do are going on walks and chewing on his rawhide.  He would do great with a furry sibling or as an only dog.  Rico is crate trained.  He goes into his crate easily when we leave the house.  At night he sleeps in his crate for up to 10 hours without any potty accidents. 

Rico is a sweet dog with a fun personality. He is a perfect, easy size.  He brings smiles to everyone he meets.  He will make a great companion to any adopter.

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:

Rico was found as a stray with another dog and brought to a rural shelter.  It is unknown if they came from the same household or found each other.   BFPA took both dogs in to help them find their forever home.  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hour's drive of Cary NC.
