FOSTER COMMENTS: Katie is a 5 year old, 44 pound Labrador Retriever/Hound mix dog. She is a relaxed dog that loves to hang out with her humans.
Katie is very friendly and very calm. She loves all children, toddlers to teenagers. In her interaction with them she stands there calmly and lets the kids just pet her. She is very gentle and patient with them. Katie also likes other dogs. She is not hyper around other dogs. While walking next to them she ignores them. She has not been around cats yet, so we are unsure of how she would react.
Katie is a very quiet dog. I have never heard her bark once. She is totally housebroken! She has had no accidents since she has been with me. She can go from 9pm - 6am, overnight with no accidents. Katie LOVES her crate! She is fully crate trained. She willingly goes in all the time and sleeps in the crate overnight
Katie's activity level could be described as low to moderate. She has moments of running around but otherwise low energy and just sleeps or walks at a nice mild pace. Katie walks well on a leash. She doesn’t pull at the leash. She walks slightly in front of or beside me. I do not have fenced yard. A fence is a nice to have feature but not a necessity.
Katie's favorite things to do are being near me and getting scratches and pets. She is a very quiet, sweet, and chill dog. She doesn’t bark with any thunderstorms, dishwasher, doorbell, etc. She would make a great family pet as she is great with dogs and kids.
EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:
Katie was found as a stray and brought to the shelter. No one claimed her so BFPA stepped up to find her a forever home. Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed. Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized. Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions. We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.
