Peanut is a laid-back sweet hound that is approximately 6 years old and full grown at 33 pounds.  She came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter and BFPA was happy to help her on her journey to her forever home.  Peanut enjoys lounging and her favorite spot is on her blanket on the couch.  She is a great TV buddy and enjoys belly rubs. Peanut is too interested in cats, so her ideal home has no kitties Even though Peanut is an extremely gentle and and easy dog to care for, we prefer someone with an understanding of resource-guarding behavior as she likes to guard her toys and treats. For this reason, only, we believe she will be better in a home without young children.  Peanut knows how to use a dog door and will let herself out for potty breaks.   She is crate/house trained and enjoys walks on a leash.  She does get along with other dogs but may take time to warm up to them depending on their personality.  She will play with friendly dogs.  She is a quiet dog and only barks when she sees a stranger or a kitty.  She is heartworm positive but BFPA is currently treating her for this temporary condition.  Won't you consider making Peanut a part of your family?

Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.
