All Best Friend Pet Adoption dogs require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs. The link to our application is https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC. Meet Persimmon! This feisty little girl is as bold as she is sweet. Persimmon is brave, fearless, and full of playful energy—she dives into life with confidence and curiosity. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, playing happily with both puppies and adults alike. She was born around the end of March 2025 and in mid-June, she was 14 lbs. Persimmon walks surprisingly well on a leash, making strolls a breeze. She eats with gusto (like it’s her favorite sport!), but shows no signs of food aggression. Crate training and house training are going well—she’s making great progress every day. She also makes a great travel buddy, often falling asleep peacefully during car rides. She hasn’t met any cats yet, but she’s shown a calm and respectful attitude toward ducks and chickens, so she may do well with other types of animals too. If you're looking for a spunky, social, and adventurous pup, Persimmon might be your perfect match!
Puppies have a tendency to cry/bark when left alone, so applicants living in a multi-family home with shared walls may not be a good fit unless the puppy is not left alone for extended periods of time. Puppies can nip and play bite and might not be appropriate for young children who are not dog savvy.
EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Persimmon was rescued with her 5 siblings from a "free" giveaway situation. Many times, "free" puppies are taken and used as bate for dog fighting. So a Best Friend Pet Adoption volunteer took them in and we are now looking for their forever homes. Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed. Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized. Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions. We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.
