STATUS: Accepting applications PERSONALITY TRAITS: Dayton is a typical young puppy. HeâÂÂÂÂs playful, likes to test things by chewing, and quite independent for this age. At this time, IâÂÂÂÂve not noticed him being afraid or timid of really anything. ~DOB: February 13, 2015 WEIGHT: We estimate Dayton will weigh approx 40-60 lbs full grown HEALTH STATUS: Dayton will be UTD on all vaccinations and monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventives prior to adoption SPAYED OR NEUTERED: Dayton will be neutered prior to adoption MICROCHIPPED: Dayton will be microchipped prior to adoption AROUND DOGS: Dayton has been around a ten year old Shiba Inu and is eager to play with him. AROUND CATS: There is a cat in DaytonâÂÂÂÂs foster home, but they havenâÂÂÂÂt had much interaction b/c the cat likes to do her own thing. He has approached her and does not seem afraid. AROUND CHILDREN: Dayton is in a foster home with a 4 year old little boy and does great. They like to chase each other and he likes to sleep in the little boyâÂÂÂÂs lap sometimes. HOUSEBROKEN: âÂÂÂÂIn Processâ â he goes directly outside after each nap (and periodically in between) and immediately pees. He is also responding well to newspaper in the house on rainy days. Dayton is "asking" to go out about 50% of the time now. He's catching on very quickly! CRATETRAINED: Yes. Dayton does not understand the command to go to his crate yet, but he does well in the crate and likes to rest and sleep in there. LEASH MANNERS: Puppy in training CAR RIDES: Does well, and likes to sleep in the back down in the floor. FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS: HeâÂÂÂÂs playful, likes to chase you around, and enjoys being outside. For a six week old puppy, heâÂÂÂÂs independent and willing to venture away from you to explore new things. After a little over a week, IâÂÂÂÂve not witnessed any shyness or apprehension of new situations. HeâÂÂÂÂs great! EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Dayton's momma showed up in a neighborhood, heavily pregnant. A good Samaritan took her in and she gave birth to Dayton and his 7 siblings. The rescuer reached out to BFPA for help and we gladly brought this wonderful family into our care ADOPTING A YOUNG PUPPY FROM BFPA: requires that you live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before final adoption.
