~DOB: January 2014

WEIGHT: 40 pounds

HEALTH STATUS (UTD on shots? on HW & flea/tick preventative?): yes to all

SPAYED OR NEUTERED: Spayed

MICROCHIPPED: Yes

AROUND DOGS: Initially she is very reserved. After a few days of living with her foster dog sister she enjoys playing.

AROUND CATS: Not tested, but is interested in them on walks

AROUND CHILDREN: Not tested. Would likely be fine around a child who would be calm until Raven became comfortable with more activity.

HOUSEBROKEN: Yes

CRATETRAINED: No. Raven does not do well in any confined situation, even a room in the house. However, she has been fine having the run of the house with her foster sister while I am at work.

LEASH MANNERS: She has basic leash manners, but needs some work on the finer points. She is nervous when another person or dog comes near her and needs to sit a few feet away from the sidewalk to quietly watch them until they go by.

CAR RIDES: She does well in the car, she is unsure how to get out when we arrive at the destination, and needs coaxing.

FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS: Raven is a shy dog who warms up to other people and dogs after a short time. She is more comfortable greeting children than adults, but does not live with any currently. She would benefit from another dog in her house who is confident as she watches her foster sister’s interactions and gains confidence from that. She enjoys playing fetch and tug of war with toys. She will also play with toys by herself. She loves to go on walks and gets very excited when she sees the leash. She will play with familiar dogs and loves to play chase and wrestle, but responds well when they do not want to play. She loves to sit in my lap and snuggle, even though she is a bit big for this. Since being taken into BFPA, Raven has transformed from a skittish, scared dog to one who is still shy but happy, loving, and enjoys interacting with others after a brief warm up period.

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Raven was brought in as a stray to the Wake County animal shelter. She was very scared while at the shelter and as they were at capacity, she was admitted into BFPA; despite her uncertainty, she is responding nicely to her new environment.
