STATUS: Accepting applications\ PERSONALITY TRAITS: Outgoing, loving and comical ~DOB: September 2013 WEIGHT: Kasey currently weighs 21 lbs and ideally should maintain this weight with diet and daily exercise. HEALTH STATUS : Kasey is UTD on all vaccinations SPAYED OR NEUTERED: Neutered MICROCHIPPED: Yes AROUND DOGS: Loves interactive play with other dog in his foster home and is social with other dogs AROUND CATS: Untested, but he likes to chase squirrels and birds. AROUND CHILDREN: Kasey is wiggly and very excited to meet and greet all people. He is learning not to jump and is good with older children but may overwhelm very small children unless they are used to doggie kisses and exuberant wags. HOUSEBROKEN: Yes CRATETRAINED: Kasey willingly crates, but has not been crated for more than 5 hours at a time, and is not crated at night (does not need to be) LEASH MANNERS: On walks Kasey is a strong little fellow but walks well in a harness. Being part beagle he is scent-oriented and needs further training on recall skills in order to be trusted off leash. CAR RIDES: Kasey loves car rides! He does well in a crate or harness. He gets excited to exit so should always be leashed before leaving the car. FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS: Kasey is active, playful, amazingly social, and adaptable. In his foster home he has access to a fenced yard via a doggie door and has a much larger canine sister he loves to play with. Human play and praise is key to his training. He has learned commands, words, and phrases through repetition and positive reinforcement. Outside, he sometimes spends time by himself, chewing sticks or sunning on the deck, but never for long...he prefers to be near his pack. Inside, Kasey loves his toys, and will take them out of his toy chest one by one. He will race around the house with or without a playmate and is very fun to watch! He is great about sharing his toys but will eagerly take food from other dogs if given the chance. EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Kasey was found in South Carolina by good Samaritans returning from vacation. Though he was hairless from mange and extremely emaciated, weighing only 9 lbs, they saw something in Kasey that made them stop. Kasey's fierce determination to not only survive, but to seek human help, shows his indomitable spirit and love of life. Now, completely cured of mange and maintaining a healthy weight, he is a bit of a comic, leaving everyone with smiles on their Kasey-kissed faces.
