About Demi

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes
STATUS: Accepting applications PERSONALITY TRAITS: Sweet, playful yet gentle ~DOB: Feb/Mar 2014 WEIGHT: 35 lbs. HEALTH STATUS: Demi is UTD on all her vaccinations -- including rabies -- and is on monthly heart worm prevention. SPAYED OR NEUTERED: Spayed MICROCHIPPED: YES AROUND DOGS: Great. Demi would be happiest in a home with another dog to keep her confident. AROUND CATS: Demi is curious about cats but leaves them alone. AROUND CHILDREN: Demi would be best with older children, but not with tons of activity or coming and going. HOUSEBROKEN: Yes. CRATETRAINED: Yes LEASH MANNERS: Not used to walking on the leash. When she is on a leash she does best on a harness style leash as she can be nervous and is easily spooked by sounds. The harness keeps her from backing out of her collar. CAR RIDES: She is very good in the car, but occasionally will get car sick. More practice should help with this. FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS: Demi quickly settled right into my pack at home just as if she had been there from the beginning. She loves other dogs, so definitely would be happiest in a home with at least one other dog. She is a very gentle and sweet dog and very eager to please. It’s been fun to watch her learn what a toy is and to see her become more playful and to be the puppy that she is. She is very motivated to learn and currently knows sit and learning other commands as well. Continued training would help to keep building her self-confidence. Demi is cautious upon meeting new people. She bonds well with 'her' people and is like my shadow when she is with me in the house. When we are watching TV she has to be right next to us. EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Demi, her sister Darcy and 5 other dogs were pulled from an overcrowded, rural shelter. Staff at the shelter reached out for help after a hoarding case created a huge issue for them. The shelter had only 14 already full pens, when over 44 dogs were brought in with Darcy and Demi among them. Demi is now thriving with the attention in her foster home and is patiently waiting for her forever home.
