About Dara-ADOPTED

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
STATUS: Dara has found her forever home with Larry and Darlene Ray -- and their dog, Lusea -- all of Cary. PERSONALITY: Cuddly, calm, fluffy ~DOB: November 2010 WEIGHT: 35 lbs HEALTH: UTD on all vaccinations and monthly preventatives. STERILIZED: Spayed MICROCHIPPED: Yes DOGS: Dara requires another dog in her forever home to help with her confidence. Once she gets to know the dog, she is very friendly and wants to play. CATS: Dara has not lived with a kitty but we would be happy to perform a cat test and/or meet and greet for interested adopters. Given Dara's calm and unassuming mannerisms we think she would be respectful of kitties. CHILDREN: Dara can live in a home with older, dog-experienced children. A very noisy household with lots of kids coming and going would not be a good match for her. HOUSEBROKEN: Yes CRATETRAINED: Yes LEASH MANNERS: Dara is not a big girl so walking her is relatively easy, however she will pull if she gets startled. CAR RIDES: Dara does OK on short trips, but tends to get car sick on longer ones. FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS: Dara is a very calm and loving dog that bonds strongly to her pack after an initial period of shyness. She loves to explore new trails and places and play with dogs once she knows them. She has a few favorite toys that she will play with independently, but she also loves to sit at your feet or in your lap for a cuddle. She is very, very smart and loves to learn new tricks (she currently knows sit, stay, keep – needed for leash walking when she loses focus, beg, roll over, and down). Dara has excellent house manners and does not chew things she shouldn't. She even occasionally cleans up her own toys by putting them back in her bucket! You may find a missing shoe or two hiding in there as well. Her favorite activities are sleeping on the couch, impromptu games of catch and exploring the parks in the area. Dara would do best in a home with older children and a second confident dog. Her timidness around new things disappears when she lives with a dog who makes her feel safe. EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Dara was adopted from the Durham APS when she was about 9-12 months old. Her adopter has undergone significant personal changes which have greatly affected Dara’s quality of life, so she reached out to BFPA to help find Dara a forever home.
