FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS: Rupert is a fabulous dog, but being in a home is very new to him.  Rupert responds incredibly well to treats and praise.  His foster parents have made huge strides with him using positive reinforcement training to help build his confidence.  Rupert's foster parents would love for his forever family to continue his training and would like to donate a 10 week training session when he is adopted.  Rupert loves to spend time outdoors and would do well with an active individual who would include him in their activities.  He is learning to be a great walker but does pull a bit when he sees squirrels or rabbits.  Rupert loves the water and swimming!   Given that  Rupert  was abandoned, he bonds very strongly with people, which makes him very endearing and loyal, so he will do best in a home with other dogs if they don't mind sharing cuddle time. Rupert is a very sweet and loving boy who is looking for a very special forever home.

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:  Rupert and his friend, Lyla, were rescued in Vieques (a Puerto Rican island).  Both dogs had been abandoned on what the locals call "dead dog beach", near the area where  his foster parents were vacationing.  You can read about "dead dog beach" at this link: http://edition.cnn.com/2015/08/25/living/sato-project-dead-dog-beach-puerto-rico/  Rupert and Lyla bonded immediately with their foster parents and they knew they could not leave these two sweet dogs behind.  They found out that Rupert did have a family at one point but they moved and abandoned him.  Sadly, Rupert waited at their house for 3 weeks for them to come back, but they never returned.  Lyla and Rupert were flown to the mainland and BFPA was more than happy to admit them to our program and help them on their incredible journey to find their forever families!
