Goldie is an incredibly sweet and loving dog. She adores people, is always excited about visitors and doesn’t miss an opportunity to snuggle. Goldie’s life changed forever when BFPA saved her when she was highly pregnant from a rural shelter. Since her rescue, she has shown nothing but love and appreciation. Goldie is eager to please and tries very hard to make her people happy. Goldie is currently discovering a whole new world, living in a house; having a roof over her head and enough food is something Goldie never had before. She absolutely soaks up all the attention and would love to have a family that is looking for an affectionate dog. Goldie is very smart; she has learned sit in a matter of seconds. She is learning how walk on a leash without pulling and other things that dogs normally know. Goldie is an incredibly loving mother to 13 puppies. We have fostered nursing momma dogs before and Goldie is one of the most caring dogs we’ve ever had. While caring for her 13 babies, Godlie is meeting all kinds of animals in her foster home. In the beginning she didn’t know what to think of resident peacocks, guinea fowls and chickens. But her foster family let her know that they cannot be chased and so Goldie is trying very hard to please them. She walks by the birds and is not trying to chase them. Goldie met more farm animals and has learned to accept them which shows her foster family that she is highly trainable and eager to learn. Goldie doesn’t miss an opportunity to snuggle up to her foster parents, she loves to play and give kisses. She has learned that toys are lots of fun; she loves to play fetch and will even bring the ball back. Her absolute favorite toy is the Kong toy but she also loves stuffed toys which she cherishes and does not destroy. Since Goldie is currently a nursing momma dog, she hasn’t had a lot of exposure to other dogs. She met dogs during her short walks and didn’t show any signs of aggression. But her foster family has learned that Goldie is all about people and would love to be the canine baby in the family. She has never had a loving family and now is her chance to find that home where she will be the center of attention. EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Right before the New Year BFPA was alerted to a highly pregnant dog that was surrendered to a rural and overcrowded shelter. The shelter was so full that not only did they not have an open kennel but they could not house a dog that could give birth at any moment. BFPA has learned that Goldie was surrendered by two men who no longer wanted her because this was the second time she was pregnant. Goldie spent her entire life chained outside and was very emaciated. After Goldie spent only 3 days in BFPA’s care, she went into labor and was rushed to an emergency clinic in the middle of the night as she was struggling to give birth. After an emergency C-section, Goldie gave birth to 13 puppies on December 30, 2015. It was clear to BFPA that she would have died a painful death if she wasn’t rescued. When her foster parents brought Goldie and her puppies home from the clinic, they saw how very skinny this poor dog was. It took her a while to realize that each meal would not be her last and that she would always have enough food. Despite being starved, Goldie has never shown aggression towards food, treats or toys. She has always shared her toys with her humans happily. Goldie is very excited about each meal and takes treats very gently.
